Student Annex Tour

Student AnnexThe Grenfell Student Centre was officially opened in 1997. One of the most recent additions to the Grenfell College campus, it is owned and operated by the Grenfell College Student Union (GCSU). The two-storey annex was built as an attachment to the Arts and Sciences Building; the Student Centre is accessible through the hallways that lead to the residence wings, which also adjoin the Arts and Sciences Building.

One of the main purposes in building this centre was to give Grenfell’s students some much needed non-academic space. Before the centre was constructed, space was at a premium; today, students have a spacious lounge, meeting rooms, large food court and dining area and a student pub to call their own.

Student LoungeThe main level of the Student Centre features a large, well-furnished lounge, offices of the GCSU Executive, a general office, a board room and a Clubs and Societies office.

Downstairs, most of the space is occupied by the food court, which features three food service outlets, including Treats, Martin’s Home Cooking, and Pizza Delight. The student pub, The Backlot, is also on this level.

The Student Centre has become a popular spot for socializing between classes with friends and professors, grabbing a quick snack or making use of spare time for extra studying. Students at Grenfell have made the Student Centre a place of their own, using it to its full potential both during the week, and on weekends for recreational activities and night life.
