Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland Grenfell Campus
Arts and Science Tour

Science BuildingOpened in 1975, the Arts and Sciences Building is Sir Wilfred Grenfell College’s original campus structure. Since then, several additions have been made to the campus, including the Fine Arts Building, the Library and Computing Building, the Forest Centre, and the Student Centre Annex, but the Arts and Sciences complex is still the main hub of activity on the campus.

Science Biology LabThe main floor of the Arts and Sciences Building consists of administrative, faculty and Campus Enforcement and Patrol offices, a pool, gymnasium and College Bookstore, as well as classrooms and laboratories. Administratively speaking, you’ll find the Registrar, Bursar and Computing and Communications offices on this floor. The award-winning Learning Centre is located on this floor in the Student Services Centre. The centre helps students with writing and math skills, but also provides support in general study habits, time management and career planning.

More faculty offices and classrooms are located on the second level of the Arts and Sciences Building. If you are a student at Grenfell, you are guaranteed to spend a fair amount of time here, no matter what your major. This floor also houses some of the student services of the college, including a PC computer lab, a Macintosh computer lab and the language lab, where students studying foreign languages can practice oral comprehension. The skywalk to the Library and Computing building is located at the west end of the third level.

Science SkywalkThe basement of the Arts and Sciences Building connects to the food court and student bar, which is located in the adjoining Student Centre. Lockers for off-campus students are also situated on this level, as well as the Earth Sciences and electron microscope labs.

Adjoining the Arts and Sciences Building is the student residence, which approximately 190 students call home. Residence accommodation consists of suites with two bedrooms and a common area with a refrigerator and an adjoining bathroom. Each floor has a kitchen and a TV lounge. The "rez" provides a friendly, homey environment. Since it’s joined to the new Student Centre and the Arts and Science Building, students who live on campus have ready access to these facilities.
