International Student Orientation Winter 2015

 

Sunday, January 4th

Campus Tour

1:00-2:00pm    Meet at Student Services Office. Join in on one of these sessions and get a tour of the Grenfell Facilities. This is a great opportunity to see where your classes will be held so bring along your class schedule.

Wireless and Computing Account Setup, Language Lab (AS 364)
2:00-4:00pm
    Need help setting up your wireless account? Stop into this session and bring along your laptop, phones and other gadgets, we can help!

Free Pizza, AS 2C02, 2nd Floor Lounge, Arts and Science Building

4:00-6:00pm Have some free pizza with us and get to know other Grenfell Students. 

Monday, January 5th

Register with International Student Services (New International Students Only) – AS234B
9:00-11:30am
Bring along your passport and study permit and register with the International
2:00-3:30pm
Student Services Office.  No appointments necessary.

English Placement Test, AS 350

2:00-4:00 pm
If you provided English proficiency scores for admission you are required to complete the English placement exam.

City Tour – Corner Brook Plaza/Murphy Square

4:00-6:00pm Get a walk-through of the Corner Brook Plaza to see services there available to you and then stop on over to Murphy Square and pick up some much needed supplies from Wal-Mart and Dominion Grocery.

Tuesday, January 6th

 Bank Account Setup

2:00-4:00 pm Meet at Student Services and you will be taken to the Scotia Bank to set up your bank account. Please note that there are limited spaces and you will need to register for this service.

Wednesday, January 7th

Meet & Greet, Arts & Science Atrium

2:30-3:30 pm Come out for some snacks and meet the Faculty, Staff and other International Students here at Grenfell Campus.

Thursday, January 8th

Discussion Group – Let’s Get Electric, AS 378

3:30-4:30 pm Our first Discussion Topic of the semester will be focusing on Culture Shock. Join us for this lively discussion and chat about culture, your culture and the Newfoundland culture. BYOM (Bring You Own Mug) for something warm to drink!

Friday, January 9th

Coffee House – AS 2C02, 2nd Floor Lounge, Arts and Science Building

3:00-4:30 pm Stop by Coffee House for cookies and something warm to drink. Bring Your Own Mug (BYOM).

Saturday, January 10th

Rock ‘N’ Bowl, Corner Brook Centre Bowl

10:00-12:00am  Join us for an evening of Rock ‘N’ Bowl and we end of a week of orientation activities. Spaces are limited so sign up at Student Services by Wednesday, January 7th to reserve your space. $5.00 per person. Transportation will leave the Pool Entrance at 930pm.
