Before heading to college, many students make a list of items they want to bring with them. The following checklist may be used as a reminder of the things you may need.
University Documents: Keep all receipts and letters.
Linens: Complete bedding, pillow, mattress pad, bath towels, and washcloths.
Laundry Items: Hamper/laundry basket, hangers, iron, drying rack, detergent, fabric softener, and loonies for the machines.
Dishware/Kitchen Items: Plates, bowls, cutlery, pots, pans, a can opener, dish cloths, glasses, oven tray, saran wrap, tin foil, oven mitts, Tupperware, etc.
Desk Items: Computer (each room has internet access), files for important documents/receipts, calendar, stationary items, binders and paper for class notes.
Appliances: Alarm clock, TV, a VCR/DVD player, hair dryer, stereo/CD player/mp3/Ipods (no sub-woofers are permitted), fused power bar (CSA approved), headset, curling iron, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc.
Personal Items: Shower supplies (i.e. soap, shampoo/conditioner), shaving supplies, toothbrush/toothpaste, makeup, bathrobe, some semi-formal clothing, personal medications, toiletries, umbrella and rain gear, warm coat, mittens/gloves, winter boots, etc.
Miscellaneous: Cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, bath mats, groceries, decorations (i.e. posters, pictures, etc.), a fan, a camera, batteries, movies, board games, a mirror, small storage containers/organizers, etc.
What Not to Bring:
Deep fat fryer.
Candles and incense. No open flames permitted.
Extension cords (must have fused power bars).
No pets. Small fish tanks are permitted.
Explosives, fireworks, ammunition, fire arms, or any weapons.
Shelving or hooks that require tacks, nails, screws, etc.
Telephones (there is one provided--regular phones are not compatible).
