Student Aid inquiries, scholarships, employment on campus and providing emergency loans are my main focus. Other areas of responsibilities include: Campus Ministry, Liquor Services and Campus Cards. |  |
| | Justin Coombs, Offf-Campus Housing Co-ordinator Office: RES221 Phone: (709) 637-6200 ext 1286 Email: jcoombs@grenfell.mun.ca Research Interests: I assist students with locating appropriate off-campus housing and with any issues that may arise when renting or boarding. I work directly with local landlords and maintain an online listing of available rentals in the Corner Brook area. I identify and respond to student needs by meeting directly with students and provide information regarding living off-campus, including the rights & responsibilities of being a tenant. I also develop and implement programs to enhance student life and help connect students to campus. As well, I partner with other student services staff on initiatives to improve the overall student experience. |  |
| | Debbie Evans, Student Housing Officer Office: RES221 Phone: (709) 637-6266 Email: devans@grenfell.mun.ca Research Interests: I am responsible for the administration of the Student Housing Office. I function in a front-line capacity, answering inquiries either in person, by telephone or by e-mail. I coordinate the activities of maintenance and custodial staff within the housing facility and I determine the need for supplies and equipment necessary to maintain operation of the housing facility on a daily basis. I also work closely with the Manager of Student Housing, the Residence Life Office, Residence Assistants and Proctors and other departments to ensure the smooth functioning of the housing facility. |  |
| | Janice Galliott, B.P.E Co-op, Wellness Educator Office: AS234C Phone: (709) 637-6200 ext 6470 Email: jgalliot@grenfell.mun.ca Research Interests: I provide students with the opportunity to be active in a variety of ways. I develop and implement various recreation programs for students. This includes programs like swimming and intramural sports using SWGC’s gym and pool. As well, I develop programs that take advantage of our natural environment like skiing at Marble Mountain. I organize competitive sport teams to play in local and provincial tournaments. Also, I develop wellness campaigns which can help inform students about important issues such as responsible drinking. |  |

I provide Secretarial support for staff in the Student Affairs office. I also book appointments for the counsellors. I sometimes give direction to students who feel lost and are unsure about which department does what at the College. |  |
| | Theresa Janes, Numeracy Instructional Assistant Office: AS234A Phone: (709) 637-6200 ext 6420 Email: tmjanes@grenfell.mun.ca Research Interests: Working as the Numeracy Instructional Assistant in the Student Services Learning Centre I provide assistance to students in any course requiring mathematics. My duties include working with students demonstrating basic numeracy and computer operation skills; conducting group tutorials to supplement the mathematical component in regular courses; guiding students in individual and group sessions; and providing any additional assistance as required. |  |
| | Diane Johnson Office: Office AS 235 Phone: (709) 637-6200 ext. 6444 Email: djohnson@grenfell.mun.ca Research Interests: As Supervisor of Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Peer Tutoring, I coordinate and oversee the student-led academic support programs on campus. I hire and train student SI leaders and liaison with faculty to establish and promote support services. I also fill requests for tutors in a wide range of subjects by screening, hiring, and matching the best peer tutors our campus has to offer its students. I work closely with students, faculty, and staff to encourage meaningful student employment on campus and provide quality academic assistance. |  |

I also coordinate residence life programming and I supervise student staff.

I am responsible for study skills training, organization of accommodations for special needs students, disbursement of career information and career advising, and most other duties as directed. I represent the department at the Academic Council, Senior Planning Committee, and Academic Administrators group. I manage the budget, liaise with GCSU on issues of mutual interest, and coordinate university-wide initiatives and issues. |  |
| | Shanda Williams, Student Programming Co-ordinator (International) Office: AS234B Phone: 637-6200 ext. 6525 Email: swilliams@grenfell.mun.ca Research Interests: I work to provide programming and support for all of the international students attending Grenfell College. I assist students with the adjustment to a new culture, including recreational events, trip to local areas, etc. I also provide immigration support, including study permits and off-campus work permits. I also am responsible for the international health insurance for international students. I work specifically to help our international students have a valuable and successful experience while at Grenfell College. |  |
| | Beverly Young, Literacy Instructional Assistant Office: AS235C Phone: (709) 637-6200 ext 6412 Email: byoung@grenfell.mun.ca Research Interests: Working in Student Services Learning Centre as the Literacy Instructional Assistant provides an ideal setting for merging my interests in art and culture into a helping profession. I work with university students, faculty, and staff to provide assistance in writing courses, namely through tutorials, private consultations, and class presentations. It is very rewarding to help cultivate valuable literacy skills that will help Grenfell’s students not only in their academic programs, but also in their future careers. |  |
