JIM DUFFY, B.A., M.A. (Carleton), Ph.D. (York)
Dr. Jim Duffy has taught at Grenfell for 26 years, having specialized in the areas of developmental psychology, cognition, and emotions. He regularly teaches Introductory Psychology and a 2nd year course titled Survey of Developmental Psychology. He frequently teaches a 3rd year course on Contemporary Issues in Emotions and occasionally teaches a 4th year course on Systems of Psychology. Other courses he has taught include Survey of Cognitive Psychology, Contemporary Issues in Developmental Psychology, and Contemporary Issues in Social Psychology.
Dr. Duffy has authored or co-authored 12 articles in refereed journals. Five of his coauthors (Marsha Harnum, Crystal Hickey, Margaret Walsh, Stacey Wareham, and Kelly Warren) were Grenfell psychology majors who began collaborating on these articles while they were still students, or recent graduates of Grenfell. Several of these joint papers are cited in some of the current textbooks in the areas of: introductory psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, sexual behavior, and the psychology of women. He regularly supervises Honours students.

Dr. Duffy has served on over 60 Grenfell committees (not including those within the Psychology department), he has served as Coordinator and then as Chair of the Psychology program, and has served as Head of the Social Science Division.
