 Education

Every child is unique. They have unique personalities and talents. Unique hopes and dreams. Unique passions and struggles. And sometimes, the only way to really teach them is to learn about them – and from them – first.

True educators are lifelong learners, so at Grenfell you’re encouraged to keep your mind open to new people, ideas and perspectives.

IT’S COMPLEX

Crafting a lesson plan. Leading a class. Keeping your students inspired and active. Every aspect of teaching is intricate. Our program will get you ready to face the daily adventures with innovative classroom practices and up-to-date knowledge of child development theory, teaching and learning.

IT’S INTENSIVE
“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. Grenfell provided me with the skills I needed to become the kind of teacher I wanted to be.”
-Lindsi Hutchings, B.Ed.

In just 16 months, you will be prepared to teach kindergarten to Grade 6. The program can be completed in four consecutive semesters, including a teaching internship in the winter semester.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

You’ll be taught by instructors with K-12 teaching experience. You’ll learn about child development, diverse learners and much more. By the time you finish, you’ll be ready to step into a fulfilling career teaching children and changing lives.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

To apply for this program, you must have completed 78 credit hours in specific prerequisite courses. Starting with admission for May 2014, an acceptable prior degree that includes the specific prerequisite courses will be required. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with an academic adviser to discuss appropriate course selection. Please consult with our recruitment office for more information.
