ECON 2010 - MICROECONOMICS and ECON 2020 - MACROECONOMICS are both considered first year courses. Both are introductory in nature and are pre-requisites for all upper level courses in Economics. Both courses are required when pursuing a degree in Economics, and for all degrees offered by the Faculty of Business Administration. ECON-2010 Microeconomics is offered in the Fall semesters, while ECON-2020 Macroeconomics is offered in the Winter semesters.
ECON 3150 - MONEY AND BANKING is the third required Economics course for obtaining a degree in the Faculty of Business Administration and, thus, as an upper level course, it requires ECON 2010 and ECON 2020 as pre-requisites. This course is offered in alternate Intersession (Spring) semesters during odd-numbered years.
EVST 3000 - ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College is a required course for students pursuing a major in the Environmental Studies Programme. In order to take this course, students need to have taken ECON-2010 Microeconomics as a pre-requisite; however, for students transferring into the Economics Programme at the St. John's Campus, they will only be granted a 2000-equivalency if the transferring student took only ECON 2010 as pre-requisite. In order to ensure a 3000-equivalency students need to have taken both, ECON 2010 and ECON 2020 before transferring to St. John's.
