 Career Options

You may decide to continue your education. The critical thinking and problem-solving skills acquired by studying Economics will provide you with a solid foundation for graduate work in Economics, Law, Master of Business (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Accountancy, Public Policy, Health Policy, and Pharmacy. Or you may enter business management careers, or work in private industry, especially in research, testing, and consulting firms, as more companies contract out for economic research services. You may use your understanding of economic relationships to advise businesses and other organizations, including insurance companies, banks, securities firms, industry and trade associations, labor unions, and government agencies. You may use mathematical models to help predict answers to questions such as the nature and length of business cycles, the effects of a specific rate of inflation on the economy, or the effects of tax legislation on unemployment levels. You may work abroad for companies with major international operations, for various Government agencies, and for international organizations like the World Bank and the United Nations. You may hold a teaching position in a college or a university.
