Activities

Teddy Bear ClinicThe Nursing Society is actively involved in many activities around the school and community. They participate in “Shin-a-Rama” which is a project where nursing students go around town shining shoes to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis.

They also exhibit great school spirit when they decorate their office for Christmas, Halloween, and Valentines etc. They are very active in encouraging other students and faculty to get involved in the spirit of celebrating.

They are also instrumental in providing a Teddy Bear Clinic at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College during October each year. This is a clinic where children can bring their Teddy Bears for a checkup and some tender loving care. The aim of the clinic is to expose children to some of the equipment used in the hospital It is hoped that this exposure will help alleviate some of fears they often experience during hospital visits. Another spin-off effect of this clinic is that the young children and their families are exposed to the dynamic career of nursing.

Students involved in Nursing Society have a lot of fun in the name of education which often leads to the creation of life-long friendships. Get involved and reap the benefits!
