Please be advised that there will be a planned power outage in the Arts & Science Building including Bennett and Pittman Residence and Arts & Science Extension during the period noted. This outage will affect all electrical systems as it requires the complete shutdown of the buildings power. It is advised that everyone in these buildings power down electronic devices/equipment prior to the outage. Please note this power outage will affect all electrical systems in the A&S and Extension (heating/lighting/receptacles/phone/data), and will also result in the loss of phones / data systems across campus as all servers will be offline. Work is anticipated to be completed by 5pm on Monday evening, at which time all electrical services are to be restored.
This work is necessary to facilitate upgrades to the building(s) electrical system, namely the connection of new back-up power generator system. The initial phases of the project included the procurement of a 750kW generator and its permanent placement on site, as well as the required underground connections to the building. The current phase of the project includes the supply and installation of the required main distribution equipment within the electrical room and its connection to a limited number of loads in the building.
