Education at Grenfell
Education at Grenfell

They say teachers are called. You can heed your calling and reach your goal of becoming a teacher more quickly by enrolling in the Faculty of Education’s primary/elementary education program, fast-track option, at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College. Officially called the "consecutive delivery program," it can be completed in just four consecutive semesters, including a teaching internship in the winter semester.

In just 15 months, you will be prepared to teach in the kindergarten to grad 6 education system.

Through courses such as art education and music education, you will learn how to approach art in relation to current theories of art and music education, as well as how to enrich other subject areas through these disciplines. You’ll gain an awareness and understanding of childhood behaviour, while focusing on the development of and distinctions between “normal” and “exceptional” children.

Lindsi Hutchings - Class of 2008
Lindsi Hutchings has always known what she’s wanted to do with her life. "For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to teach," she says. "The question was, what university would provide me with the skills I needed to become the kind of teacher I wanted to be? After spending three years completing prerequisites at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College I know I have made the right decision." Lindsi feels confident and prepared to begin the fast-track education program at Grenfell. "I want to contribute to the quality of education and the overall quality of life of children in the school system," she says. "I’m ready to begin my training and I look forward to starting my teaching career."
