AQUATIC PROGRAMS – Fall 2014
Grenfell Campus' Pool is an indoor, year-round facility. It is a 25 meter pool with 6 lanes featuring a 1 metter diving board and 6 diving blocks. We offer a wide range of swimming lessons and aquatic programs which start seasonally (September, January, April and July) and are open to all individuals whether a beginner or a mastered swimmer.

RED CROSS SWIMMING LESSONS
Group lessons begin Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014
- SWIM KIDS (LEVELS 1–10)
- AQUA ADULTS
PRIVATE Swimming Lessons:
Fee: $90 (five 30-minute sessions)
SEMI-PRIVATE Swimming Lessons:
Fee: $120 / $60 per person (five 30-minute sessions)
BLOCK 1: Begins week of Sept. 20
BLOCK 2: Begins week of Oct. 25
NOTE: Due to time constraints, participants are not permitted to reschedule lessons
Bronze Medallion (Advanced Aquatics)
This course teaches lifesavers how to respond in complex rescue situations, helps to develop physical fitness, decision-making and judgment skills. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for the advanced lifesaving awards.
Prerequisite: Candidates must be 13 years of age (proof of age is required) and must have completed Swim Kids Level 10 or have equivalent swimming ability.
Dates: Friday, Sept. 5 (5-9 p.m.) / Saturday, Sept. 6 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) / Sunday, Sept. 7 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Health and Wellness
This includes programs such as early bird and evening swim, a recreational swim, various aquacise programs, as well as customized activities for seniors.

BRONZE CROSS (ADVANCED AQUATICS)
This course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification.
Dates: Friday, Sept. 12 (5 - 9 p.m.) / Saturday, Sept. 13 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) / Sunday, Sept. 14 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
AWSI/WSI (ADVANCED AQUATICS)
ASSISTANT WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (AWSI)*
Learn the foundation of instructional skills such as teaching methods, learning styles, physical principles, progressions, communication, safety, supervision and feedback.
Duration: 30 hours (+ 6.5 hours teaching experience)
Prerequisite: Candidates must 15 years old by the last day of the course.
WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (WSI)*
Learn to plan and teaching the Red Cross Swim continuum, instructional emergency response skills and instructional techniques specific to our programs.
Duration: 25 hours (+9-11 hours teaching experience)
Pre-requisites: Candidates must be 15 years of age or older and certified as Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructor.
(Both courses must be completed to become a certified instructor - practice teaching hours are required)
