The Grenfell Campus Humanities Program we offer an intimate supportive learning community with an abundance of personal attention. At Grenfell, studying the Humanities is a process of intellectual discovery and personal development through which we come to better understand what it means to be human in an ever-changing world. Our students are challenged to explore a broad selection of past and present works of Iiterature, philosophy, visual art, music, and more from a variety of critical perspectives. You may study Plato, Rumi, Nietzsche, Simone de Beauvoir, Leonard Cohen, or Lorde. Depending on your course selections, you may learn about the development of reason, concepts of self, Asian thought, and totalitarianism – among many other subjects. Through this process you will acquire a wide breadth of knowledge. In addition, you will come to understand, critically assess, and construct arguments, to think creatively and independently about complex subject matter, and to express your ideas in a clear and concise manner. These are all character traits and intellectual tools prized by many of today’s top employers.
