I remain interested in promoting heritage and cultural activities in the western Newfoundland. Currently, I am a member of the heritage committee of the Town of Humber Arm South as well as the Bay of Islands Musical Association. In the past I have participated in the former regional Heritage Fair, sat as a member of the collections committee and on the board of directors of the Corner Brook Museum and Archives, and volunteered with the West Newfoundland Historical Society. Also I am a former member of the Community Editorial Board of The Western Star, having written editorials for nearly four years on various community-related issues.
My favourite activities include spending time with Marie and our twin daughters Marta and Emma, strumming guitar, walking and hiking,, snowshoeing, dining with friends and acquaintances, puttering around the house in an effort to keep "the salt box" from falling down, and baking bread. Recently, I have joined the Corner Brook Chamber Choirr, where I sing tenor (Pavarotti, watch out) take singing lessons from Steven Leigh, a former singer with the Canadian Opera Company), and am learning to tapdance at Dance Studio West (I now know my left foot from my right - I think).
