The Division of Science at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for two (2) 8 month teaching term positions in Environmental Science/Biology at the rank of visiting assistant professor beginning September 1, 2014 and ending April 30, 2015.
Environmental Science/Biology: The successful candidates will teach in support of the Environmental Science and General Science degree programs http://www.grenfell.mun.ca/science. The candidates will be expected to contribute to Introductory Biology as well as potentially teach courses from the following list: Introduction to Environmental Science, Vertebrate Biology, Terrestrial Ecology, Conservation Biology and Analytical Ecology/Biostatistics. In addition, the candidates may participate in the Senior Environmental Science (Biology) group project and seminar courses, and have the opportunity to supervise senior student projects within the two programs. A PhD is preferred, in the fields of Environmental Science, Biology or a related field, along with relevant university teaching experience.

The Division of Social Science at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for an 8 month teaching term position in Geography and Environmental Studies at the rank of visiting assistant professor or lecturer beginning September 1, 2014 and ending April 30, 2015.

​Geography and Environmental Studies: The successful candidate will be expected to cover a regular teaching load in support of the Geography Minor and the Environmental Studies Major. The candidate will be expected to teach Introduction to GIS, plus a variety of physical and/or human geography courses like Cultural Geography, Economic Geography, and Environmental Impact Assessment. A Ph.D. is preferred in the fields of either Geography or Environmental Studies, or a cognate discipline. Candidates with an M.A. or M.Sc. will also be considered. ​​The Faculty of Education, Memorial University, invites applications for a one-year teaching term appointment in the area of primary/elementary teacher education beginning September 1, 2014 (subject to budgetary approval). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Bachelor of Education (Primary/Elementary) as a Second Degree Program at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook.

Qualified candidates should have a completed (or near completed) doctorate in education (or a related area) or any combination of appropriate education and experience. Candidates should have proven experience in teacher education and program coordination; familiarity with primary/elementary curricula in Newfoundland and Labrador and other Canadian jurisdictions. Teaching assignments will be in accordance with the successful applicant’s background and experience.

Business: The successful candidate will be expected to cover a regular teaching load in support of the Bachelor of Business Administration and the Business Minor programs. The successful candidate will have experience teaching in quantitative-based courses such as Accounting, Financial Management, and/or Operations Management. The successful candidate will also teach other courses in support of the business programs. An MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field is the minimal credential accepted. Preference will be given to candidates who also possess a relevant Doctoral or professional accounting designation such as a Ph.D., DBA, and/or CPA, CA, CMA or CGA.

The Division of Arts at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for an 8 month teaching term position in English (Shakespeare and Early Modern Literature) at the rank of lecturer/visiting assistant professor beginning September 1, 2014 and ending April 30, 2015.

English (Shakespeare and Early Modern Literature): The successful candidate should have at least an M.A. in English Literature (Ph.D. preferred) with expertise in Shakespeare and Early Modern Literature and will be required to teach first-year courses in English Language and Literature. Sociology: The successful candidate must be prepared to teach six courses over the 8 months, including Introduction to Sociology, Social Research Methods, Social Movements and Families. Courses taught by the candidate are offered as an essential component of the Social/Cultural Studies program, an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree linking anthropology, folklore and sociology. Applicants with a PhD and evidence of effective teaching and research experience will be given priority, but candidates with a PhD in progress will be considered.

Memorial University anticipates making four-month teaching term appointments in the Faculty of Education in the areas of curriculum studies, leadership, literacy, science education, special education, counseling psychology, post-secondary studies, technology education and teacher education subject to budgetary approval and sufficient enrolments during the 2014-2015 academic year.
The minimum qualification for teaching term appointments at the undergraduate level is a completed master’s degree in the discipline and appropriate teaching experience. At the graduate level the minimum qualification is normally a completed doctoral degree in the discipline, though in some cases a master's degree in the discipline together with appropriate professional experience may be an acceptable qualification.

Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for a Three-Year Regular Term Position in Counselling at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2014 and end August 31, 2017.

Primary duties will include providing counselling services to graduate and undergraduate students; leading efforts in the promotion of mental health as part of a healthy campus initiative and in consultation with partners across the university; providing psychological assessments for the student population, specifically to identify learning issues and design appropriate accommodations; and other duties as agreed.

Eligibility for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board (NLPB) is required. All appointments are subject to budgetary approval. The Visual Arts Program at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for a 4 month teaching term appointment starting January 1, 2015 and ending April 30, 2015.

The successful applicant will teach Foundation Drawing and Intermediate Painting in a Fine Arts context within a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree program. Undergraduate teaching experience, working knowledge of traditional methods, contemporary issues and practices, historical knowledge and safe studio practices are essential. M.F.A. or equivalent combination of professional experience, training and education required. The ability to supervise fourth year students on an individual basis would be a benefit.
