Teaching Term Position in Anthropology
Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, is a small (1300+ students) liberal arts and science institution. Grenfell's emphasis is on a small-class environment and teaching excellence in distinctive multi and interdisciplinary degree programs with four-year Bachelor’s degrees in Arts, Fine Arts, Science and Nursing. We are currently working to increase enrolments, build new degree programs (including an M.A. in Environmental Policy), acquire new infrastructure and enhance our research profile and activities.
The Division of Social Science at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for the following term position beginning August 15, 2012 and ending April 30, 2013. These are teaching term appointments under which the appointee’s duties and responsibilities are restricted to teaching.
Anthropology: Courses taught by the candidate are offered as an essential component of the Social/Cultural Studies undergraduate program, an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree linking anthropology, folklore, and sociology. Applicants must be prepared to teach an introductory course, more specialized courses in classic anthropological studies/texts, environmental anthropology, and in their own area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD, however applicants at the ABD stage will also be considered. Those with a demonstrated effectiveness in both teaching and research will be given priority.
