Janeway Telethon fundraising

So far, the GCSU's fundraiser for the Janeway Telethon, being held Saturday, June 1, has reached a grand total of $5360.57. Now: a challenge! The push is on to round it up to an even $5,500! If you would like to help them reach their goal, please contact Kirk Wiseman at kdwiseman@grenfell.mun.ca to arrange a donation.

The Governor General is coming!!

And you could be a volunteer at the conference he is attending! His Excellency David Johnston will deliver the opening address at CU Expo 2013, being held in Corner Brook June 12-15. As a volunteer you’ll get a free T-shirt in one of the three trademark CU Expo colours, free food during the conference when you’re helping out, a certificate of thanks as well as a letter of reference for resume purposes; and the best part, the chance to meet loads of really interesting people! Contact ktemple@grenfell.mun.ca if you want more info or want to sign up. The organizers of the conference will be hosting volunteer orientation sessions at the beginning of June where you’ll find out everything you need to know. Volunteer shirts will be provided there.

Memorial University’s Task Force on Competitive Sport wants to hear from you

The Task Force on Competitive Sport is reviewing the role of competitive sports at Memorial University. Our mandate: To carry out a formal review of the current competitive inter-university (varsity) sports program at Memorial. This review will guide the development of the varsity sports program for 2013-20.

Through two public consultations we hope to:

· Explore what is working well

· Determine areas needing more support

· Gather feedback on current competitive sport opportunities

· Identify areas of future potential
